چکیده

In this study, three raw Brazilian clays from Joao Pessoa, Paraiba State (Aco AP, AVL and Verde Lodo) were characterized before after purification acid activation. Several instrumental techniques used, the classified as dioctahedral smectites with different compositions, where sample had highest content of montmorillonite. addition, analyses showed modification in clay mineral mainly due to removal impurities octahedral sheet cation leaching during activation, which resulted specific areas ranging 42 93 m2 g-1 increase Bronsted/Lewis site ratio, until 1.52 (AVL). Then, methyl esterification reactions performed using acid-activated catalysts. The maximum conversions obtained 92 64%, for acetic activated lauric Lodo, respectively, these data correlated Bronsted-Lowry acidity.

Bulky diarylammonium arenesulfonates as selective esterification catalysts.

More environmentally benign alternatives to current chemical processes, especially large-scale, fundamental reactions such as ester condensations, are highly desirable for many reactions. Bulky diarylammonium pentafluorobenzenesulfonates and tosylates serve as extremely active dehydration catalysts for the ester condensation reaction of carboxylic acids with equimolar amounts of sterically dema...

Acid-modified clays as green catalysts for the hydrolysis of hemicellulosic oligosaccharides

The hydrolysis of hemicellulosic oligosaccharides (OS) was investigated using acid-activated clays (prepared from natural Porto Santo montmorillonite clay) as catalysts. Acid activation was performed in HCl solution or with aluminium exchange. The clay catalysts were characterized by XRD, N2 adsorption isotherms, CEC, FTIR, titration of acid sites in water and adsorption of sugars and disacchar...

Mineral Commodity Report 20 - Clays

Clay, as a rock term, describes a soft, loose, earthy material containing particles with an average grain size of less than than 0.004 mm (4 mm) in the Wentworth grain size scale and less than 0.002 mm (2 mm) in most soil investigations. Clay is composed mostly of clay minerals, but may also contain quartz, feldspar, carbonates, ferruginous material, and other non-clay materials. All clays, apa...

Application of Water for Synthesis of Cyclopentadienes via Multi-component Reactions of N-methyl imidazole

A water-accelerated multi-component synthesis of organic target molecules was used as a key method for the preparation of cyclopentadiene derivatives. The three-component condensation reactions of primary amines with alkyl propiolates in the presence of N-methylimidazole in water at room temperature were developed as efficient and clean green synthetic procedures for the high-yielding preparati...
